USC's current master plan for creating a healthier learning and living environment for its students has now lasted four years. The plan is the long term is most definitely going to help not only the campus itself, but also its surrounding community.
In the master plan itself, it highlights that USC serves as an "economic engine" for the community. Also, included in the master plan is role and mission of USC. I believe that this master plan will create a safer, and healthier environment for all students at USC as well as people living in Los Angeles surrounding the campus.
If I could change one thing about the master plan, I would state more specific goals right on the main page instead of through the links on the page. This way, more people can see the overall goal, and get a greater sense of what direction the University is heading.
I agree that they should have less links and just more information right on the page because that makes the accessibility of the information much easier. I believe the goal of USC is to try and help out the community around it, but I feel they need to go to the people more, instead if just making a plan that they feel would be the best for everyone. The only people that truly know what the community wants and needs are the ones living there, so they should have a major say in what goes on in their community in terms of redevelopment.
ReplyDeleteSpecificity is important, especially if neighbors are worried about their living conditions. Again, USC will open all the new resources up to the community and hopefully the area will come together to create a safe and cohesive neighborhood. USC should dedicate some new jobs to the neighbors that surround the campus.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your position on the USC master plan. I believe that the surrounding neighborhood needs improvement and it will make USC a more appealing school to in and out of state residents. Since, USC is a private school it has enough money to make these improvements and become a better school as a whole by improving their surrounding area.
